space to ride horse in the peace and quietness of nature.
Ride among a
land dotted with olive groves and ancient sites holding timeless myths,
take amazing paths way up into the rough mountains enjoying breathtaking
views, swim in the clear blue waters and dry at an abandoned beach.
Avdou
On the east side of the island,
in the village Avdou lies the Odysseia Stables. Avdou is located in the
province Heraklion and 15 km from the lively holiday center Hersonissos.
In Avdou follow the signs to the stable.
Avdou is a traditional Cretan village which is not
discovered by the mass tourism. Instead Avdou is a center for natural
activities. Here travelers meat each other in the evening, drinking
raki together, after enjoying a day of your favourite sport. Or maybe
just to enjoy the nature, or come to watch the birds. As each year a
colony of Griffon vultures nests on the cliffs here.
In Avdou It is possible to join in a range of activities like horse
riding, bird watching, hiking, biking, Paragliding, Caving, mountain
climbing and at 7 km
distance their is a 18 hole golf court.

Who are we?
We are Sabine Ruijters Fragakis, from
origin Dutch, and Manolis Fragakis, from origin Greek. We are the owners
of Odysseia Stables.
In 1997 Sabine moved from the Netherlands to Crete together with her
Latvian horse Bogor. She moved to the beautiful island with the idea to
start a stable which organizes Trails. In the same year we bought 8
horses and built self made stables.
After a difficult start, the work increased and also Manolis started
working full time in the Stables.
Now we work with the best established travel agencies specialist in
horse riding holidays, like Pferd&Reiter in Germany, Unicorn trails in
the United Kingdom, Trailfinders in the Netherlands
and Belgium, Hast & Sport Resor in Sweden, Rando Cheval in France, Hidden Trails in Canada and Equitours
in The United States.
In 2005 we finished building our complete new stables.
For the future we will both be here, wanting to make also your holiday
into a huge success, giving you charitable memories and experience the
real Greece.
